Just A Dream
By Crystal
He walked slowly through the dark. Where he was, he had no idea. All that he could see around him was darkness. He called out.
"Ike! Zac! Is anybody here?"
Nobody answered and he started to tremble with fear as he realized that he was alone. Suddenly, without warning, dozens of candles lit up around him causing him to jump in shock. He was revealed, what seemed to be some sort of old crypt. The soft candlelight it was bathed in giving an eerie quality to it. Something out of the corner of his eye caught his attention. He turned around and found himself faced with a coffin. An old, dusty, coffin. Cautiously, he approached it and leaned down to examine the lid. He tried to blow some of the dust off and sneezed as a puff of air blew up into his face. At that moment, he heard a creaking sound behind him. He turned and saw on the other side of the room, an open door. He rushed towards it, happy to find a way out of that awful place. When he reached the door, he looked to the side and noticed that the lid to the coffin was wide open. Feelings of uneasiness and fear began to creep up his spine. It was then that he felt a cold, bony hand on his shoulder. He spun around and was so terrified at what he saw that the color drained out of his already pale face. Two cold, black eyes bore into his own. The face was unbelievably disfigured and its body, though it looked human, was incredibly emaciated. Finally finding the feeling in his legs, he took off running out the door. On the other side, he found a set of stairs and climbed them quickly. When he reached the top, he found himself outside in front of an old church. The building of the church was terribly broken down with broken windows and loose boards falling all over the place. An old cemetery was next to the church. He heard footsteps coming up the stairs and his heart nearly stopped beating. He ran off into the cemetery screaming for help.
"Help me! Somebody help me please!"
Suddenly, something caught on his foot and he fell face first to the ground, knocking the wind out of him. As he struggled to catch his breath he rolled onto his back and looked to see what his foot was caught on. He was horrified to find a hand sticking up out of the ground grasping onto his ankle tightly. Another hand popped out of the ground and grabbed onto his other ankle. Before he could even try to get out of their grasp, two more hands popped out and grabbed his wrists, pinning him down to the ground. He watched, panicked, as more hands came up out of the ground and held down his body.
"NO! NO! STOP! STOP IT! LET GO OF ME! SOMEBODY HELP ME!"
He screamed and struggled for all he was worth, but it was no use. The hands held him too tight. His eyes darted upwards as he heard footsteps and he found himself once again looking into the same cold, black eyes from before. The eyes held no feeling or emotion. They simply stared into his face. It started to slowly bend down towards the struggling boy as it opened its month and in a low, raspy, croaking voice, whispered one word.
"Taylor"
Hearing it say his name sent him into a full panicked mode and he screamed and struggled violently to get away.
"NO! HELP ME! SOMEBODY HELP ME PLEASE!"
It came closer to him.
"Taylor"
"HELP ME! HELP ME! "
"Taylor"
"HELP! HELP ME!"
"Taylor!"
"PLEASE! HELP ME!"
"TAYLOR!"
He shot up in bed, sweat running down his body. He fearfully looked around as he tried to catch his breath. There were no hands holding him down and instead of being in a cemetery, he found himself in his bedroom. He looked up and found that those cold, black eyes were gone and replaced with two sets of worried, brown ones. Ike sat down next to him on the bed.
"Tay, are you okay?"
"Yeah dude, your shaking," Zac said as he sat down on the other side of him.
Taylor looked down at his hands and saw that he was, in fact, shaking. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath trying to calm himself down. Then proceeded to tell them about his terrifying dream.
"It was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me," he told them.
"It's okay Tay. Just calm down," Zac said, trying to give him some comfort.
Ike put his arm around his shoulders.
"Yeah man, it was just a dream."
Nodding his head, Taylor looked out the window and found himself looking into a pair of cold, black eyes.
It was just a dream.
